De son vrai nom Abdoulaye Diarra, Oxmo Puccino grandit dans le 19e arrondissement de Paris.
Il évolue dans le milieu du rap français depuis 1995. Il assiste à la montée de la violence dans son quartier et décide de la mettre en poésie. Et c’est son écriture pleine d’images et de métaphores qui devient sa principale singularité.
Oxmo Puccino est également reconnaissable par sa diction et ses grandes qualités de narrateur. Il collabore avec d’autres rappeurs et sort notamment ‘Opéra Puccino’ en 1998, ‘L’ Amour est mort’ et ‘Le Cactus de Sibérie’ en 2004.
Reconnu dans le monde du rap français, Oxmo sait toujours se réinventer : en 2006, il s’associe aux Jazzbastards pour raconter les histoires et les rencontres qui se passent au Lipopette Bar. L’abum, paru sur le mythique label de Jazz Blue Note, symbolise le mariage parfait du rap et du jazz.
Avec ‘L’Arme de paix’, il revient sur le chemin du rap... Un album qu’il qualifie lui-même de « naturellement hip-hop, évidemment musical et impérativement positif ».
